AN OPEN LETTER TO SELF

Dear self,

To begin with, I would say that I am proud of you. I know situations and circumstances have been very unfavorable lately. You just feel like giving up on everyone and everything, but keep going, do not stop, keep your hopes ablaze. In such hard times, your faith in your near and dear ones also begins to dwindle. You find them insensitive and feel that they fail to understand the gravity of the situation you are in. But I advise you not to doubt them, take in their care and words of concern. It will make you feel better.
However on some days, even those consolations and words won’t be able to cheer you up and you will keep sinking in your desolation. But remember this is not the first time when you are feeling so distressed, you came out of it then and you can also come out of it now. Don’t indulge yourself in temporary pleasures. Nourish your spirit. Find a brighter way to overcome your failures or cause of agony.
Yes, this again makes you feel like reading a philosophical text on positive sides of life, but you need to know that you are stronger than your challenges. You are patient enough to receive the rewards life has to offer you. You feel you are flawed but you still inspire others in unimaginable ways. Sometimes your good deeds go unnoticed and unappreciated, but are you doing it for those mere compliments??? No, you do it and you keep doing it because it is you, your very nature, your identity and you don’t need an external validation for who you are.
One of the major reasons for self- doubt is the failure in fulfillment of expectations. Therefore, you need to revise the expectations you have created for yourself. Are all your expectations in line with your dreams and passions? Do you really know that all your expectations are yours only and are not forced on you by the society? Chase your own desires. Decide for yourself. Fulfill your real expectations. One day, all your hard work will give good results.
Design your own virtues and follow them. Emit good vibes. Create an aura of optimism around you. Be a happy soul. Know that someone will always be better than you but that does not mean you need to question your worth. You were not gifted this life to follow others instead you are born to leave your own footprints on this world.
Be proud of what all you have achieved rather than lamenting over what all you have missed. There is always a room for improvement. Each day groom yourself to be better but don’t hate yourself for who you are now. You are your own source of happiness and you are your first guide. So have faith on your journey. Believe in yourself. Love yourself first.
