Quotes and Anecdotes - 3

Hello readers,
We all know a strong foundation is very vital for any infrastructure. In the same way, our lives become better when we have a strong base. A foundation of values and profound life lessons.
Being an Indian, I am so used to listening great stories and tales from our past which are fascinating. Oh! Also filled with many life teachings.
Let's talk more about it in this blog.

Here is the third one in the #quote_anecdote series,

History repeats itself
Time and again, we have heard this quote more often than we expected.

Genuinely, I don't get the point of it at all, the fact that if history repeats itself and we already know it, then how come we don't stop it from happening ? Why do we need to have a deja Vu ?
Warren Buffet answered these questions by saying
What we learn from history is that people don't learn from history.
Almost sounds like a savage comeback, but is so right, isn't it?
There have been uncountable moments where we read our history textbooks only to joke or criticize the actions that people took back then. I mean yes, it is too convenient to pick out the pitfalls in the history.
But the point here is did these jokes or criticism ever changed us in any way? Did the lessons move out  from classrooms along with us?
The answer would be no, I suppose.
Like who does not know how the greed for power have led to wars in history, but did that ever stop us from craving it?
It is really convenient for anyone to judge others when we are away from that situation, what matters is how we act when we are in similar situations. Making mistakes is for sure a human trait, we must not aspire to be a perfect individual. The motive is to avoid the most grave mistakes of the past.
In my personal experience, I have got this understanding that till a lesson is learnt, it keeps coming back to us in varied forms.
Sometimes a better way to move forward is to look backwards, not to judge but to learn.
This lock down is a wonderful time to revisit our roots and revive the lessons taught in it. This time go a step ahead, more than the story, more than the narrative, look for a deeper meaning.
You know like we say, read between the lines. Seek the lessons that could be applied to our own lives today. Pick out some of your favorite parts of history or stories, choose 2-3 lessons to adopt from them. History repeats itself because we repeat the same mistakes.
We are imperfect creations of God, we make so many mistakes each and every day. So we can surely try not to make some of those from now on, right?

Let us all step back for a while only to come back smarter and braver than we are now.

This time tried to keep it short and sweet!

  6. Verywell explained ,blogger. Life is all time teacher, with worst punishments for the mistakes we do sometimes knowingly and sometimes unknowingly. No mistake is a crime if it happens and is not done. But punishments are same for both in life's court .

    1. Punishments are surely same but has the fear of punishment ever stopped us from making those mistakes in the first place?
If not, probably it's time to rethink and maybe use this fear or realization for good.
